Textbook synchronicity.Amy Winslow (Wagner) is a professor of English literature who specializes in mystery and crime fiction. Usually, I would say that four mysteries is a bit much, but the pacing of this movie is spot-on. It’s a very interesting structure and approach to storytelling by the writer. We’ve got four mysteries total: two intertwined local mysteries, one overarching hunt for an escaped serial killer, and another local mystery involving a very controlling man. Of course, I have to comment on the mystery. ![]() It was also very sweet when he made a point to ask her opinion after interviewing a witness. Between the fact that Travis chose to start reading crime-fiction on his own after meeting Amy and Graham shows how they just clicked. The relationship between the trio is a perfect example of how sometimes good people who care for each other simply aren’t suited to be romantic partners in life. Kate obviously cares for and respects Travis, but she also makes sure Amy knows that her intentions are completely pure and innocent. Despite the initial awkwardness, mostly brought upon by Travis himself, the two women get along well and there is no cattiness. I also enjoy the rapport that Amy and Kate form. I enjoyed their banter when she teased him by saying that she and Amy stayed up until 2 a.m. Travis’s new partner, Maria Valdez, is wonderful new addition to the crime-solving team, and his ex-wife also fits in surprisingly well.Įrin Cahill conveys the role very well, as someone who has a history with Travis but has no more romantic connection with him. It’s also difficult to add two new core characters and not derail the movie. It’s tough to maintain consistency throughout six movies, but this series manages it well. The general mood of this sixth installment is spot-on. Source: Hallmark Movies & Mysteries QC Approved ![]()
